Bipolar disorder is a mental illness marked by extreme shifts in mood. Symptoms can include an extremely elevated mood called mania. They can also include episodes of depression. Bipolar disorder is also known as bipolar disease or manic depression.

Extreme Mood Swings
Experiencing intense mood swings, ranging from periods of elevated energy and euphoria (mania) to episodes of deep sadness or hopelessness (depression).
Increased Energy and Activity Levels
During manic episodes, displaying heightened energy levels, increased activity, restlessness, and impulsivity.
Impaired Judgment
Engaging in risky behaviors or making impulsive decisions without consideration of consequences during manic episodes.
Decreased Energy and Interest
Experiencing fatigue, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, and a sense of hopelessness during depressive episodes.
Changes in Sleep Patterns
Experiencing disruptions in sleep, such as insomnia during manic phases or hypersomnia during depressive phases.
Difficulty Concentrating
Experiencing difficulties concentrating, making decisions, and remembering things, particularly during depressive episodes.
